Hot buns from a food truck? How The Chairman is turning up the heat on dining out in San Francisco

A favorite in San Francisco for more than a decade now, The Chairman food truck has picked up quite a following since it first started serving up hot buns in 2010. The Chairman officially operates out of its headquarters on Oakdale Avenue, but you’ll commonly see its truck out in other locations around the city on select days.

A past winner of “Best Food Truck” from San Francisco Magazine, The Chairman delivers bold and spicy food in a fast and unique way. The food truck takes its inspiration from Asian street food, with your choice of steamed or baked buns topped with some of the freshest ingredients.

We recently caught up with one of The Chairman’s owners. If you’re having a hard time deciding what to order, he says the pork belly is definitely number one. He also recommends not missing the karaage chicken, which is another fan favorite.

Be sure to keep an eye on the weekly truck schedule. You can normally catch The Chairman food truck at the Fort Mason Center every other Friday, or at the San Mateo Farmers’ Market on Saturdays. If you miss the truck, you can always head to the Oakdale Avenue location for lunch anytime on Monday through Friday.

By the way, The Chairman is just one of the concepts. There’s also Good Gai’s, which describes itself as chicken and rice comfort food. To find Good Gai’s just head to the same spot on Oakdale Avenue during the workweek.
