Our good friend Lisa Silverman is always on top of the latest home design trends. Here’s what she’s seeing so far in 2019.
Today I’m joined by Lisa Silverman to talk about home design, and we’re going to look at some current design trends that we’re seeing in 2019. Whether you’re a buyer looking to redesign your new space or a seller looking to appeal to today’s buyers, Lisa’s got some great tips for you to modernize your home from a design perspective.
One of the most popular design trends in 2019 is the open floor plan. Most of the time, this involves opening up a wall to create one large space for entertaining and family gatherings. We know that the kitchen is the hub of the house and people like to hang out there, so people want bigger kitchens. We’re seeing fewer separated living rooms and more open room concepts with a kitchen and living space.
As far as materials go, a lot of natural woods and stones are coming back in style. A mix of modern, sleek, natural, and edgy gives a great balance. The mid-century modern look is also very popular right now.
In the kitchen cabinetry department, Lisa is seeing a lot of two-toned cabinets that bring a multi-dimensional interest without making things too busy.
Gray is in when it comes to wall colors—specifically, warm grays. Gray is a nice, neutral color to use and this year’s Pantone color of the year, live coral, pairs well with it.
Finally, let’s talk about bathroom design trends. Lisa is seeing a lot of floating vanities, which creates more floor space, and a lot of porcelain tile made to look like hardwood. It gives you the look of a wood floor without the hassle. Classic octagon tiles work great in the bathroom as well because they’re timeless.
Stay tuned for part two of our discussion on 2019 design trends, which will be out in the next few weeks. If you have any questions in the meantime for Lisa, give her an email at [email protected]. If you have any other real estate-related questions for me, don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
